‘Testing for Tickets’ Encourages HIV Testing, Offers Free LGBT Pride Festival Tickets
June 5, 2015 (SAN DIEGO) – Continuing an annual tradition, the AntiViral Research Center (AVRC) at University of California, San Diego is offering 250 free weekend passes to the 2015 San Diego LGBT Pride Festival for persons to undergo free, confidential HIV testing. The program is part of an on-going study to detect early and acute HIV infection in the community.
The Testing for Tickets campaign uses its local HIV testing programs Lead the Way and The Early Test. Beginning June 15, 250 free two-day passes to the San Diego LGBT Pride Festival will be given to qualifying participants.
“As we move toward this year’s Pride festivities, we want to remind people of the importance of knowing their HIV status, getting tested and using safer sex practices,” said David Rodriguez, HIV Testing Program Manager of the AVRC.
Tickets are expected to run out before the actual festival, which run July 18-19. All members of the community are encouraged to get tested and know their status. Testing for Tickets will take place at the following locations:
